Garden goodies

Today was "clean up the backyard" day. And man did it need it. It actually amazes me that such a small area needs so much work to keep it looking good. I should have taken a before picture, but that would have been downright embarrassing :) We mowed and moved the play structure and playhouse around, and finished our garden and cleaned the patio off. It looks great, and feels really good to have it all done. As Matthew said, we are now ready for summer! Killian helped me plant the pepper seeds:

We put peppers, yellow and regular cucumbers, rainbow carrots, baby carrots, green onions and some walla walla onions in this box (#2). Caught red handed, Killian is apparently trying to transplant a large weed into our garden!!

Rowan helped by looking cute:

Then she looked cute AND helped plant. A girl of many many talents! In this box (#1), we planted green leaf lettuce, spinach, and romaine lettuce next to our cherry tomato plants:

The finished product in bed #1 (#2 is boring, with everything but the walla's being started from seed):

Matthew cleaned up the BBQ, so we got to have BBQ chicken for the first time this year! We also had corn on the cob, which is always a good photo opportunity :)

Sometimes a girls arms get mighty tired lifting those heavy cobs:

We had nothing planned for dessert.....until my very awesome sister in law stopped by. Now, I would say she is awesome just because, well...she IS. But also because she is one talented baker. Tonight she brought over a pan of fresh baked, homemade cinnamon rolls! Cinnabon, watch out....just look at these scrumptious treats:

We even got to frost them ourselves, therefor adding much more gooey goodness than necessary! The kids loved them (and mom and dad will probably finish them up before morning!)

Thanks Michelle! Your the best :)
