Mooooooooooo goes the cow

Today we decided spur of the moment to take the kids to Tillamook. Matthew had never been to the cheese factory, and neither had the kids so we thought it would be a fun adventure. Now, long car rides with these two are NOT something we look forward to with glee *rolling eyes* but lucky for us, my very wonderful brother and sister in law recently gave us a portable DVD player. Remind me to send them my sanity later, because of them, I still have it all ;) The kids happily watched Clifford movies the whole way there, and Killian figured out where we were going once the smell of manure hit us. Whoa, was it ever strong smelling!! Unfortunately for us, the packaging line and cheese making observation areas weren't open because it was a weekend, but we still had a good time looking around, checking out all the machines. The kids sampled one of every cheese they had to offer. In case you ever want to buy Killian cheese, the Pepper Jack is "nasty, disgusting and totally gross". LOL. We got ice cream to make up for it though!!

After we were done there, we headed to the beach. For those of you who think Tillamook is actually right next to the ocean...its not. Which we discovered after I had driven all around, just SURE that the beach would be at the next turn. OOPS! So we drove up the coast a little bit to Oceanside, which was actually a really cool little place. Not much in the way of stores or restaurants, but hey...we were there for the beach! It wasn't crowded at all, and the weather really cooperated, sunny and sorta warm...it is the Oregon coast in June after all :) The kids played for an hour or so before we got back in the car to head home. It was a really fun day, I love spur of the moment trips like this!

Outside the cheese factory:

MOOOOOOO:

The highlight for the kids (and me!!) was the ice cream cones....yummy!

Killian has a couple "penny passports" which are little holders for squished pennies. So far, he has quite a collection of them, and Rowan has decided that she better get going on her stash:

Click on this to make it bigger, and check out those wacky faces!

What is this stuff??

Killian with a stick? Naw, not him. It certainly wasn't the first thing he spotted as we walked onto the beach, and he didn't stuff his arms with as many as he could possibly carry. He also didn't drag them around the whole time, or ask (beg) to bring any home. Nope, not Killy! :)

Who needs sticks, when you have SAND!

Waving at daddy:

Speaking of handsome :)

What a fun day it was!! We are planning a beach getaway this summer, hopefully for a couple nights and days, and I am really looking forward too it!
