Green thumb

Our garden at work is doing so great!! I spent 2 hours out there today with the kids, hilling potatoes and trying to shove our overgrown tomatoes into cages (which should have been done about 3 weeks ago, so it was quite a job)! This is a pretty picture heavy post, but I am so thrilled with how everything is looking I had to share :)

Our pumpkins are getting so big, each plant has vines at least 2.5 feet. Here is our first baby pumpkin:

These are cantaloupes, of which we have 4 and I have absolutely no hope of actually harvesting a cantaloupe from. But, the plants were free, so we figured why not!

We have 4 flowers on our zucchini! Everyone says we will soon be up to our eyeballs in these things...I see a lot of zucchini bread in my future!

Bell peppers are doing great too, each plant has at least two buds on it:

This is our biggest tomatillio (spelling is probably totally wrong on that, but spell check isn't helping me out) plant, we have 4. I stuffed it in a cage today, since all the lanterns were on the ground. Its just blossoming like crazy, and is a really beautiful plant...probably my favorite in the garden.

Broccoli:

This along with our brussel sprouts and cabbage are being eaten alive by some little green worm/catterpillar things. Anyone know what they are and how to chemically free evict them?

Cucumbers. The front 4 are lemon cuc's (my favorite!!), then behind are two pickling without trellises, and in the very back are two pickling on one trellis. We didnt plan these out well at all!

Tomatoes:

Yukon Gold potatoes. Hilling these up has turned out to be so much more work that I expected, they are growing like mad! Next year, I want to do something like this instead.

The whole shebang:

If you look closely enough, you might be able to see a little girl behind all that dirt!!
