Independence Day!

We had a great Fourth of July this year! We started the morning with the Hillsboro 4th of July parade. The kids and I went last year with Aimee and family, and this year Matthew was able to join us all too. The kids love it because they get tons of candy!! Aimees sisters had written "Throw candy HERE!" in chalk in the street, and Killian decided to add his name in parenthesis under it. I assume this was done so that the candy throwers would know to throw it to him specifically. How hilarious!

Rowan is waiting patiently with her super size candy gathering bag:

We saw cool things like skateboarding dogs:

That afternoon Matthews sisters and brother and their kids, as well as my mom and dad came over for a BBQ and fireworks. Kami and Mike....we missed you guys!! :) The kids couldn't wait till it got dark for the real fireworks, so we let them set off all the little ones while it was still light out:

This is something my brother is going to appreciate. We found ourselves with an overabundance of Piccalo Peets. Any self respecting man (former teenage boy) understands the endless possibilities of these fireworks. Mainly...they are good for making bombs with. Uncle Dustin stepped right up to carry on the 4th of July tradition of making these little explosives. The boys gathered as only boys can do:

And then it went BOOM!

Silly boys :) Meanwhile Rowan decided she was to tired to mingle, so she retreated to the comfort of mamas back. I don't usually wear her these days, but it was a nice feeling to have her so close again. How I miss when she was smaller and I wore her everywhere!! Doesn't she look cuddly?

This is the result of all that snugglyness....look how she has her little hands up cradling her face. She looks like such a little angel, and amazingly enough, she slept like that through another hour or so of big booming fireworks!

Just a couple more pictures. My camera has a fireworks setting on it, and I thought these turned out pretty cool. I hope you all had a great 4th of July! :)
