Saying goodbye

This Sunday we headed to the beach with all of Matthews siblings to have his mom's memorial. She had wanted her ashes released at the beach, which was her very favorite place to be. It was a hard day, because we all miss her so much, but it was also really nice for us all to be together celebrating her and her life. All of her children and one of her sisters released her ashes into the ocean, and then we all put in a rose in remembrance. It was really touching and beautiful. I think she would be happy. We miss you Mom <3

Afterwards, we went out to lunch, and I got a picture of all the cousins together AND they were all behaving reasonably...amazing!

When we finally hit the beach, the kids were way more excited than us adults, because they apparently failed to realize that it was about 42 degrees outside, and the wind was blowing along at close to 50 MPH. Or at least it felt like it! We all bundled up while the kids played and tried not to be blown over.

Looking at my boys, you would think being at the beach is VERY serious business:

But you see Rowan has the right attitude!

This handsome dude is my nephew Orion...what a ladies man ;)
