Seems like I always want to update the blog, but life keeps getting in the way :) So here are some mostly recent pictures and happenings, all in one big post!
Our garden is at last providing us with food! We have cherry tomatoes:

Carrots:

Lemon Cucumbers:

And at the work garden, we are almost ready to harvest some zuccini, and have already harvested 3 little cucumbers! Its really exciting to see everything blossoming and growing so well!
Proof that Rowan wants to be just like her big brother:

Our little MacNCheese (we just call him Mac for short):

We had a few problems with him last week, but he has settled down and is becoming more snuggly and sweet. He and Rowan still have a love-hate relationship, she is just not trustworthy around him, and is always whacking him with something...but then again, he swats at her and smacks at her unprovoked too, so I am sure they will work it out!
Killians school friend Taylor came over to play in the water tonight, its a perfect night for it, its been so hot here this last week! Rowan thought the sprinkler was great fun:

And so did the big kids!

Last night we went to National Night Out with Aimee, Dave and their kids as well as her mom, mother in law and father in law. Aimee is so lucky to have the very coolest extended family, and I feel lucky to know them as well! They are always so sweet to the kids and me, and I love them dearly! :)
So anyways, the NNO was held out in Gales Creek at the Elementary school out there. Its something that happens in communities across the country, as a way for neighbors to meet, socialize, and get involved in their community. It was a potluck dinner, and they also gave away prizes, as well as had a couple fun games for the kids. Aimee's father in law won a gift certificate for a free christmas tree, and I won $25.oo in cash! I was so excited, I never win anything. The kids had a great time, and I practically had to pry them off the teeter totter to get them home. I hope that someday we are able to live in and be a part of such a great little community...I love small towns. The comradery between neighbors, the helping hands, the watching out for each other and willingness to share and go the extra mile while expecting nothing in return are what make small towns so special. It seems like a lot of these things are missing in most areas today, and its so sad. I wish we could go back to a simpler time, when neighbors were closer, and communities were tighter, as well as families being closer together (M and K...we miss you guys!) and sharing more. I guess its up to us as individuals to try to foster and grow these things in our own chosen neighborhoods and communities. Hopefully Matthew and I will be able to find a house soon, in a wonderful neighborhood, filled with like minded, cool people. Or maybe we should just look into communes :P
