A day in the life of a Carni

On Sunday we had Killians 8th birthday party. We did a Carnival theme and had 3 carnival type games (Ring Toss, Balloon Pop, and Ball Toss). The kids got tickets for each successful toss or balloon pop. The grown ups took turns running the stations and the kids had a blast going from game to game getting tickets.
Here are some action shots:

I have to make a note about this next one, its so cute. Thats Hank, who scooted up all the way to the first row of containers to throw the balls. Despite nearly standing on top of the first row, he bypassed those cups and instead aimed for the back row. SO CUTE!

After they gamed themselves silly, the kids excitedly counted up their tickets:

Then they headed for the prize table:

The kids really liked being in charge of what they got, and I liked this idea a lot more than the traditional goody bags we usually do.

The biggest shocker? The bags of candy were the least popular! I had thought for sure that those would be first to go, the kids surprised us all :)

Unfortunately, the Ferris Wheel birthday cake that I worked on all morning had some major problems with gravity and didn't make it to candle blowing time :( So instead, we stuck the candles in the surviving wheel of the doomed cake and pretended like that was the plan all along. Good thing we had made enough extra cupcakes for everyone to still have some cake like substance!

Opening presents, Killian's favorite part. I loved this picture, because all the kids are right there (Paul is hidden behind Killian) and even baby Jon got in on the action!

Thank you to everyone who shared this day with us, we love you all!

Oh,and Mike....you cant take a bunch of silly pictures of yourself on my camera, and expect me not to post one ;) Love ya big bro!!
