Halloween Party!

Last Saturday night we went over to Aimee and Dave's house for a Halloween party. We had such a great time! Dave was in charge of the food and games, and had a ton of really fun things set up for the kids. They started off having "worm burgers" (sliced hot dogs on ham. buns) with blood (ketchup of course) and a glass of pumpkin brain juice (a mix of orange juice, 7-Up and ice cream) and us grown ups had some homemade chili and corn bread. Rowan had a hard time eating....her teeth are just so funky lately:

It was all really good, and the fun continued after we ate when we went outside for some apple bobbing. This quickly went from innocent apple bobbing, to almost completely soaked small children, and they couldnt have been happier. Rowan searched:

And searched:

And finally...success!

Killian had the brilliant idea to grab the apples by the stem, and as a result he got a ton of apples, all quickly devoured:

These two are so darn cute together!!

Even baby Jon got in on the action:

The kids also did another game, one of those close your eyes and feel the squishy stuff and everyone but Killian thought it was a ton of fun. I think he thought the stuff was real! We all sat down to watch Sleep Hollow, which I haven't seen since I was a kid. I remember watching it every Halloween, and being scared to death of the scene where the headless horseman chases Ichabod. I wasn't quite as scared this time ;) and the kids enjoyed watching it. We also had some really yummy Spider Cake, complete with spider blood inside (raspberry jam). It was a great party, and everyone had such a fun time...we are lucky to have such a great family to be friends with!

Last night we carved our pumpkins, but we had a minor setback at first. Killian's pumpkin was rotten, as was the "extra" one we had that we were going to make for Mac. Ridiculous, I know :) So, we were left with 3 pumpkins for 4 people. Killian was devastated that his pumpkin was no good...he was just crushed. We went to the Safeway across from our house to look for another one for him, but they only had a few left and they were all misshapen and moldy. I told him he could just have mine. He was really grateful, and even though I had picked the perfect pumpkin.....I didn't mind sharing with him. I figure if anything its a good lesson for him that families do selfless things for each other. We went back home and I helped Rowan carve her pumpkin, while Killian carved his pumpkin all by himself. Matthew does these ridiculously hard patterns every year so it took him forever, but his pumpkins always come out really cool looking. Here they are all lined up together on the front porch:

I cant believe Halloween is tomorrow already! I feel so behind just getting this stuff posted now. Oh well. Better than after Halloween :) We are excited to have Michelle, Jason, Riley and Crystal and Takoda join us tomorrow for trick or treating in our new neighborhood. Now everyone cross your fingers that it wont rain on our little ghouls!
