The pumpkin patch and other halloween goodies

****Dont miss the other posts below this one, there are pictures of the house!****

My very favorite pumpkin patch is one on Sauvies Island. I can never remember the name, but its the one thats almost across from the little red store, and its just the coolest place ever. They have all kids of fun stuff for kids, and grownups and I would have loved to go there again this year. Unfortunately, Matthew works Saturdays, they are closed on Sundays, and it was going to rain Monday (otherwise I would have gotten Killian out of school early and gone then). We ended up going to Baggenstos farm. I go there in the summer to pick raspberries, and its a cute little farm. It was okay, but I doubt we will go back again. There wasnt much in the way of activities for the kids, and it was a little overpriced. We managed to have a good time though! The kids did pumpkin bowling:

I found some cute farm animals to take pictures of:

Rowan measured up:

And loved on Daddy:

Then we got on the hayride, and rode to the pumpkin field. It was the weirdest thing I have ever seen. They clearly didnt grow the pumpkins in the field, or if they did, they removed all traces of the actual plants. I have just never ever seen a pumpkin patch like this:

We did manage to pick out the perfect pumpkins though, and after picking up a few other decorative gourds, we headed to Oregon Heritage Farm. We went last year to, and its a cool place. They have a fun hay ride, activities for the kids, and of course lots and lots of apples. The kids got their faces painted. Rowan got ghosts and Killian got black blobs that were supposed to be spiders:

Everyone picked out a few apples each, along with some corn on the cob and fresh apple cider. It was a fun day, and made me wish we hadn't been so busy this October with moving. We have missed out on a lot of our favorite Halloween activities. Its worth it to have the house though!

We had a lot of fun decorating our front porch! Its so neat to have a house with a nice porch to decorate, and I think we are going to have a lot of fun decorating for Halloween, Fall/Thanksgiving and Christmas. Here are two shots of the front porch at night, one with and one without flash:

On Thursday Matthew had to go to Washington overnight for a business trip. We invited Aimee and the kids over for dinner, and then the kids made Halloween shaped sugar cookies. They were a riot to watch, the big boys each used about 1/2 a container of sprinkles on each cookie, while Rowan just dumped herself a nice little pile of sprinkles on the counter, and ate them straight. The cookies turned out really yummy, and we even managed to save Matthew one or two. It was nice to have such great company, it really made the night seem less lonely with Matthew. Thank goodness these trips are only once a year :)

Last night we went to the Harvest festival at Killians school. Killian said that they could wear their Halloween costumes to it, so they each got dressed up and ready to go. Killian is Indiana Jones, and Rowan is a black kitty. I thought they looked so cute together!

Lastly, here is a picture of the kids after they had gotten into Matthews old Halloween costume bin. They were running around the house going "ooooooooooohhhh" like little ghosts and scaring the bejeezus out of Mac. Pretty cute:

Tonight we are going to a Halloween party at Aimee and Daves house, and we are super excited. We all love this time of year, and Halloween is the kickoff for all the fun holidays and happenings over the next couple months.

P.S. Tomorrow we are going to look at a dog. I am nervous because I don't want a repeat of what happened with Kayda. All signs point to this being the right dog for us though, he is in foster care now so we really have a good idea of what his personality is like, and he is apparently a big mushy love of a dog. We meet him in the morning, and possibly will bring him home tomorrow. I hope we are right for each other <3
