Let them eat CAKE!

Its the month of birthdays, and lucky for everyone, that means cake! Matthew turned 30 on November 2nd, and my twin brother Mike and I turn 30 in 4 days. 4 DAYS! Clearly we are old and used up now, so we decided to throw a small family party to celebrate the passing of our youth. We planned it for the weekend between our birthdays, and that happened to be this past Saturday. We had all our family over, except my brother who refused to drive 6+ hours to party like a rock star with me. Lame-o, I know. He is forgiven though, because we ended up partying like old farts anyways. We set up a taco bar, with all the goodies anyone would need to make the burrito or taco of their dreams. We stuffed ourselves, and then it was time for CAKE! I know I have mentioned before that my sister in law Michelle is an amazing baker. Well...I don't really feel that is accurate anymore. She is now a SUPER amazing baker. Check out what she made for our birthday cake:

Are those the most delicious looking cakes you have ever seen? The 3 was a German Chocolate cake, and the 0 was a Black Forest cake. Made entirely from scratch. Uh huh, now you see why she needed the SUPER. The cakes were seriously the best cake I have ever eaten. I have had a few days, and many slices to confirm those findings.

They were even fun to light - Dustin and I raced to see who could light their assigned cake the fastest and after his lighter self destructed, victory was mine!

Even though this last picture is really blurry, I wanted to post it because it catches Matthew in the act. He blew out some of my candles!! Stinker.

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family to celebrate this milestone with. It was a great beginning to our favorite time of year!
