I found this on a blog I read. It really hit home, someone close to me lives their life in the "what hurt me yesterday"zone, and I don't want to end up like that. Its so important to remember to let that past hurt/anger/disappointment go, and move into the present.
Carl Jung once said that the avoidance
of the necessary pain of living
is the root of all mental illness.
There is the pain of life that lasts
as long as it lasts – and is gone.
That’s simply necessary suffering.
Then there is the complaining about the pain
which can go on for decades,
even lifetimes, after the real pain is gone.
The complaining, the bitching,
is voluntary suffering
– and is the drug of choice for all victims.
Life will give each of us just
enough suffering to make us saints.
We don’t need to add any of our own.
