You know its getting to be that time of year when you the leaves are falling, the air is getting crisper, the blessed rain returns and the surest sign of all....this stuff hits the grocery shelves:

Oh yum! I also saw eggnog on the shelf, but I managed not to buy any this time. Mmmmmm....Eggnog! Its so not good for a family with milk sensitivities...but damn its yummy stuff!
Fall has always been my very favorite time of year. I love the way the air smells, that crisp crunchy air that hits you as soon as you walk outside. It wakes you up, alerts your senses, and brings the promise of change. I know its not the same kind of change that spring brings, when everything is emerging with new growth. I guess some could look at fall and say that everything is dying. The leaves are falling, the gardens aren't producing, the dreary rain is coming. I feel the opposite...fall makes me feel cozy, it makes me want to curl up and watch a movie with the kids, sip a warm cup of hot chocolate while we play a family board game, have the whole family making cookies in the kitchen, cuddle up with everyone in front of the fire. I guess to me fall brings a time of closeness with my family. In summer, its so nice outside that everyone wants to be out playing, or on fun family adventures. Which of course is a great thing, and we have had an amazing couple of summers here lately. But when the weather outside is cold, and its raining and storming we find ourselves inside more and more. We get ready for winter, hibernating together, enclosed in our little family space with the big bad world safely closed out. I just love it, and am really looking forward to all the memories we will make and the traditions we are going to start in our new house :)
I went to the doctor yesterday to talk to them about my chest pain, dizzyness, headaches, and other weird stuff going on with my body these last couple weeks. Actually, looking back today, I realized it may have only been one week, but it sure seems like longer. The doctor was a new one, I have never had reason to have a primary care doc before, as I am usually pretty healthy, and rarely need to see a doctor. If I did get sick in the past, I just went to the urgent care. This seemed like it warranted a visit to a "real" doctor though, so I picked the first one I could get in to see. Which isn't my ideal way to pick the person who I am trusting with my care, but hopefully it will work out in this case. Anyways, she listened to all my symptoms, took my blood pressure, and basically said.....she didn't know what was going on. Surprise, surprise! She doesn't think the chest pain is heart related, since its been happening for at least a week, and I haven't had a heart attack yet :p. Her words, not mine! She did find a slightly worrisome problem with my blood pressure though. She took it while I was sitting down, then lying down, then standing up. She said that there shouldn't be any more than a 10 point difference between lying down and standing up, but mine was close to 40 points different. Hmmmmm. We talked about anemia, which seems a likely idea to me, from what I have read online I have just about all the symptoms. But man..there are some scary causes for it! She thinks everything is tied together, but since she has no idea what is causing the problems, I went to have a whole bunch of blood sucked out this morning, and should have more answers when she gets the test results on Tuesday. Which might as well be 3 months from now, cause thats sure how it feels. I keep telling myself that I am a young, healthy mama with everything going for me, and I am *sure* thats its nothing serious. Now if you could all repeat that along with me, I think things are going to be just fine!
Here is a cute picture of the kids to round out a very random post. This is one of Killian's most favorite past times, and he is getting Rowan in on the fun. He likes to take old hot wheels cars outside and smash them to itsy bitsy bits with a hammer. He found an mallet for Rowan to use and they had a great time out there whacking for all they were worth. Very cute...until you walk outside with barefeet and step on a bumper! These kids love to demolish!
