I don't know if other people are like this, but as soon as Christmas has passed I want all things Christmas out of my house. As soon as possible. I am not sure what drives me to this, I think some of it is the clutter of Christmas doodads all over the house, and the pine needles...those blasted pine needles. It could also just be because Christmas is...you know...over. So when Matthew headed to work on Friday, I got busy erasing Christmas. Rowan and I packed up everything around the house and I was going to stop there, and wait for Matthew to help with the tree but I found that I couldn't look at it for one. second. longer. So I unwrapped the lights, boxed the ornaments and had Killian help me manhandle it outside to the front porch. This is what was left behind:

I HATE pine needles. I bet we will be finding them until Easter.
While I was busy cleaning, the kids were busy enjoying their Christmas presents. It quickly became clear what the favorites were. This is what I saw when I first woke up. Killian and the helmet, reading his Guinness Book Of World Records book:

The kids watching a movie while eating lunch on their bean bag chairs, also featuring their new pajamas (that bag right next to Killian? Its the helmet. Told you he was carrying it around everywhere!):

And my sweet little girl, singing the "Little Einsteins" theme song on her sparkly new keyboard:
I don't seem to have a picture of Killian with his MP3 player, but trust me when I say it has hardly left his head since he got it. I love Christmas time, but I am also just a teensy bit glad its over. With the snow gone we can get back to our regular routine. But you know...we might just take it a little slower for a while. It was hard at times for us to mostly stay at home for almost 2 weeks....but it was good in a way too. Its nice to connect with the kids, and I have found that I am spending more time listening and less time doing. That's always a good thing.
