Yes it could be....we got snow!!

I didn't actually think it would happen. I was up at 5:30 with Row, and there was no snow. Matthew was up at 6:30 with Row...still no snow. But when we all finally rolled out of bed at close to 9:00....look what we found!

It wasn't much and not really enough to play in, so we hung out inside for a few hours until more accumulated. By 11:00, it was really coming down:

We got everyone all bundled up, and headed outside. The cars were a huge hit with the kids because there was easy access to a lot of snow, perfect for snowball making. Rowan also enjoyed the car snow immensely, once she figured out she could eat it:

Matthew and Killian had a snowball fight...it was hard to tell who won, but Matthew must have got a good shot in here:

We decided to walk to the green space across from our house, and the kids promptly threw themselves down to make snow angels. Killian was too quick for me, but I got a picture of Row in mid angel making:

Matthew made a perfect one:

The excitment quickly gave way to coldness, and when the kids started whining we headed home. We built a fire, and had some hot chocolate, and then it was time to get ready to go to Baby Jons first birthday party! The drive there wasnt bad, and we had a great time celebrating with our favorite baby boy. The drive home was pretty scary though. We had to go down a big hill that was really a sheet of ice, cars were spun out on each side of the hill and police were at the bottom trying to get everyone turned around. I have a huge fear of driving in ice/deep snow. I think a lot of it is the total unpredictability of it. I am always imaging the worst! I put the car in low gear, and just went down as slowly and carefully as I could. It took about 15 minutes to get down the hill, one that would normally take all of 30 seconds. The rest of the way home was pretty icy, and I was so relieved that we made it home in one piece. I saw so many idiots out there driving like it was a summer day, and felt small amounts of satisfaction when they would slide around.

The snow is still on the ground today, no big suprise since the low last night was in the 20's. There is a chance for more snow on Wednesday and Thursday, and then snow or freezing rain on Sunday. Luckily we got all of our Christmas shopping done last Saturday when Aimee and Dave watched the kids for us (Thanks again guys!) and we have enough food and supplies to last us for a while, just in case it gets worse out there. Matthew said the main roads on his way to work were fine today, but the side streets are really slippery. I am sad because I think we are going to have to cancel most if not all of our remaining holiday fun, because this weather is supposed to last at least until early next week. At the same time....the kid have snow to play in, we have cookies to bake, ornaments to paint, and lots of quality time ahead of us. School was canceled today, so the kids will be able to play outside together in the snow too. Here are a couple last pictures of them yesterday:

If you live around here, enjoy the snow and stay safe on the ice!!
