First it was the snow, and then the monsoon rains. Then it was/is the exhaustion and discomfort in my chest. Between them all, I have been feeling really cooped up lately. My plan was to start getting out for walks with Rowan every non raining day, but I am scared to push myself too much without knowing whats wrong with my lung. Today I couldn't handle being inside one more minute, so the kids and I bundled up and headed to the backyard. I had noticed the other day that the ground is super soggy, totally saturated with all the moisture we have had lately. I figured it would be the perfect time to dig up all the rose bushes that are in the garden that we wanted to remove to make room for new raised beds. I didn't think it would be too physically taxing, and I was right...they were for the most part really easy to get up. Here is the before, its hard to make out, but they go all the way down the fence to where the bark dust starts:

And here is the after:

Every time I would get a bush dug up, the kids would circle around the hole in the ground to look for "wormins". Rowan was the designated worm picker upper, mostly because Killian is very squeamish when it comes to getting slimy or dirty. So Rowan would pluck them up, and put them in Killian's gloved hand.

After they had a bunch of them, they took them up to the play fort to sort through them:

It was nice to get outside, and nice for the kids to find something interesting in nature to play with. I am really anxious for summer to get here, I have had my fill of winter already. Its cold, and hard to get outside to play every day, and that's something I really take for granted in summer. I cant wait for long, warm lazy days and those balmy summer nights. We only have what....6 more months to go? I just need to hang pictures like this around the house to get me through...
