When Killian got home from school today, the first thing he did (well, after tossing his backpack, shoes and coat all willy nilly around the living room) was ask Rowan if she wanted to get a snack and then go outside to work on a workbook, and he would help her with it. He LOVES to be the one to teach her stuff. Rowan, enthusiastic to do anything even remotely having to do with her big brother, readily agreed. They got some grapes, picked a Care Bears "Thinking Skills" workbook, and headed outside.

An hour later they had finished the book, and were both quite pleased with themselves. I am SO proud of Killian when he comes up with ideas of stuff for them to do together. It seems like so much of the time they fight over the silliest stuff. The biggest one right now is who gets to sit at the end of the island counter at dinner time, and who sits on the floor spot closest to the couch when they are having a snack and watching a show. After months of hearing "You sat there last time, No - Its MY turn to sit there" I -finally- came up with the ingenious plan of having one person sit in the highly desired seats for one week, and then it would be the other ones turn. Two days in, its working like a charm!
Anyways, it does seem like they squabble a lot, but I am also noticing that more and more Killian is going out of his way to think of stuff that they can do together. Maybe now that she is getting older, she is a better playmate? I don't know exactly what changed, but I love seeing them play, get along, and have fun together. I hope that they will always find friendship and good times in each others company.
