Bringing sexy back

This morning I had Endoscopic sinus surgery to remove the cyst that I talked about in this post. Matthew and the kids dropped me off at the hospital at 6:30 this morning, and I waited in my room until about 9:00 for the anesthesiologist. We talked for a minute (they always call the night before surgery to ask all their questions, so there isn't much to discuss in the morning) and then he gave me some meds through my IV. During this surgery its really common for blood to drip down the throat to the stomach, which can cause some major stomach upset and throwing up. Things I would prefer to avoid considering I am still sore from my last surgery! So they gave me antibiotics, nausea medicine, and some other crazy cocktail through my IV that immediately left me walking on air. I don't clearly remember getting wheeled into the operating room this time, unlike my last surgery, and its all really hazy. Fade to black until I woke up in post op to a nice nurse who fed me ice chips while I came in and out of consciousness. It was weird waking up. I was aware for a long time that I would wake up, eat ice chips and go back to sleep, and then one minute I just kind woke up for good, like I had gotten a jolt of electricity through my body. I was still really tired, and when I was wheeled to another post op room I did doze off and on again. Finally around 11:30 they called Matthew to come and get me, and I got dressed and was wheeled to the car. We stopped at Safeway to pick up my prescription, headed home and the Matthew had to leave for work. I was a little worried about how I was going to be feeling, but other than being really tired from the anesthesia, and my nose and face being really sore, I am doing okay. I can walk around and function almost like normal, except for the next 10 days I am not supposed to bend over (YES! I get out of laundry and dishes again!) or do anything that would raise my blood pressure. Other than that, I expect it to be a fairly easy recovery! Matthew did talk to my surgeon who said the surgery went well, and that the cyst looked just like they expected it to, although they will still send it to pathology. I am not worried about it being anything cancerous, but its nice to hear that he thought it looked pretty normal too.

The best part of this whole thing, and the reason for the blog title? My post op head gear:

Go ahead and laugh...I know your really just jealous. This fancy little number is made to hold gauze pads up against my nose because for the next 24-48 hours I can expect to have bloody mucus dripping down my nasal passages. It makes it a little tough to eat, and since I am not supposed to drink through a straw the gauze gets wet when I drink through a regular cup if I am not careful. But still, I am rocking this thing. I wouldn't be surprised if I started a huge new fad...this this is HOT!
