Chicky Chicky Chicky

I cant believe how fast our little chicks are growing up!! Every day they seem bigger than the day before, and they are starting to get their "big girl" feathers in now. They have little tail feathers now, and their necks have grown by at least an inch! I would guess that they are somewhere between 2 and 2.5 weeks right now. Here are some recent pictures of them.

Last night, this little girl fell asleep on top of the food jar:

Long necks:

They are so curious, and really friendly when we come and sit with them. I make sure to hold each one at least a couple times a day, and sometimes they will relax so much the stretch their necks out on my hand and close their eyes! Its so sweet, I am actually a little surprised with how attached I am to these little chicks. When we give them a treat (apples or celery so far) we call them by saying chicky chicky chickyyyyy and now whenever we say it, they calm right down and come close to look at us and see what we have.

They are going to need a bigger tote soon! We bought all the lumber for their coop and run the other day, and are just waiting for a sunny weekend to build it. Its going to be similar to the one in this post with a 8 foot long by 4 foot wide by 5 feet tall run. Hopefully it will come together smoothly, neither Matthew or I are experiences carpenters!

Lastly, the kids are also loving the chicks, and Killian wanted to take pictures of himself with them to take to class to share. He tells me daily how happy he is to have them, and how much he loves them. Its so sweet!
