Spring Break 2009

Killian has been on spring break this week, and so far we are having a really fun time! Monday and Tuesday we ran errands and played outside with the neighbor kids. Wednesday Aimee and the boys came over for coffee/breakfast and stayed for a good part of the day. We got lucky and didn't have any rain, so the kids played outside for a long time, and Aimee and I got to chat, which I love! Yesterday (Thursday) was the day we were all really looking forward too....the beach! We caravaned down with Aimee and the boys in the morning and got to the beach at about 11. It was an awesome place that Aimee had found before, mostly secluded....we only saw about 4 other groups the whole time we were there! It was outside Rockaway beach, only about 15 minutes from Tillamook. The beach was covered in driftwood, which provided a great place for the kids to jump and play. There were also sand dunes to jump off of, and of course, sand castles to build. As usual, the kids played great together, we are both blessed to have such wonderful children! We stayed at the beach for about 3 1/2 hours, had lunch and even made a little fire (it was chilly, but not windy or rainy). Then we headed back into Tillamook to stop at the cheese factory, which was INSANE. I instantly got a headache and the grouchies...it was a hard transition from the carefree quiet beach to the very crowded and noisy cheese factory. Rowan was having a really hard time staying still and listening, she is coming into 3 with a bang it seems, because this has become a big issue for her. We are working on it though! We sampled cheese, and I bought some smoked cheese for Killian, its his favorite, but not something we get that often. Then it was ice cream time! Rowan got chocolate, of course, Killian got strawberry and I got Rocky Road. Not very adventurous of me, they have so many yummy flavors, but I LOVE rocky road too much to pass it by. After we ate, we headed home and by the time we got there a little after 5, we were all exhausted! It was a really fun day, and I cant wait to go back again with Aimee and also to take Matthew there, I think he would love it! Here are some pictures of the day.

Best friends and both messy ice cream eaters!

Today we are just hanging out at home, and will probably play with the neighbors most of the day. This weekend our family is coming over to hang out, and I am going to a the Better Living Show with Aimee, its a sustainable living convention that I hope to learn a lot from. If its nice, we also want to work on the chicken coop, at least getting the frame up, even if we have to do it in the garage. The girls are getting big, and I think starting to feel a little cramped in their tote. It will be nice to get their coop built, then we will need to shift our focus to the garden and get that started. Those are our two big projects that we really want to get done, and I will be excited when they are complete!
