Matthew and I worked all weekend on our chicken coop, and tonight we added the finishing touches after dinner. There is more to be done, I want to shingle the roof and paint the coop, and we have to add the nesting boxes and roosts, but its close enough that they could spend the night tonight in their new spacious chicken mansion!

Last night we took them out for their first grass adventure...they loved it! We took them in small groups, and they were pretty scared at first, but quickly warmed up and started exploring. Of course, Indy was there to lead the way!

They have the cutest little waggly butt chicken walks!

The kids had fun playing with them outside too!

This morning Aimee brought over a few gate panels so that I would be able to take the chicks outside, but keep them corralled. I am too worried about them to give them free run of the backyard just yet. So this worked perfect, and they had a great time scratching and eating little bugs and weeds!

So tonight they are *hopefully* going to sleep safe and sound in their coop. They have their heat lamp out there, because its going to be cold and even though they have most of their feathers, they need the extra warmth for a little longer. I keep going out to check on them every 30 minutes or so, they seem so happy, which makes me really happy. Building the coop has taken MUCH longer than I thought it would, and has been a lot harder, but tonight...its worth it. Now if we could just get that darn run done!
