Could it have been a stray cat?

Turns out it was......
THE SUN! They are sunbathing, and whenever the mood struck them, they would just fall over and plop any which way for a sunbath. Then a minute or two later, they would be up and wandering around again. Sure gave me a scare when I first went out to check on them though! And look, sweet little Omelet is giving freckles a little shade for her weary eyes:
