That when they get hot, chickens pant? I didn't! But it was 86 degrees this Sunday, and the girls were hot and panting like crazy, and were imploring us through the screen door to do something about it. See all the open beaks?

To cool them down, we gave them the ends off of a watermelon to enjoy. At first, they weren't sure:

But then they all dug right in:

It was a big hit, and I think it helped cool them down because they weren't panting as much after the ate it. Tonight we are finishing up their "run", which will limit their space a bit, but thankfully also limit the amount of poop on my deck. Pictures soon!
