Tonight we went to my nephews championship baseball game to watch him play for the first time this season. It was really fun, its been a longtime since I have been to a baseball game, and it was a first for the kids. Riley was awesome! Here he is up to bat:

Their team played really well, they were even up by 9 at one point. Just before their time was up (the rules only let them play for 1 hour and 45 minutes each game) the other team scored 2 points, and won the game :( I was really surprised at how seriously everyone was taking it. I know that its good for kids to have some discipline, and of course they should try their best...but at the same time the chances of any of these kids actually getting into the major leagues is mighty small. So therefor, shouldn't the game be mostly for fun? The camaraderie, and the experience of playing on a team? It seemed like most of the parents were really supportive, not like those horror stories you hear about parents starting fist fights and screaming from the sidelines, so that was good. But some of the kids were getting really upset, yelling at each other to "get their heads in the game" and crying when they missed catching a ball. It made me really sad that they put so much pressure on themselves to win the game. But...I have never had a kid who was interested in or has played team sports, so maybe there is something I am missing.
After the place cleared out, Rowan and Killian took turns pretending that they were playing ball with Riley. They posed for a picture:

And they all ran the bases together (notice Row taking a shortcut!):

And Killy practiced sliding around in the dirt, which he loved. I think it would be fun to take the kids to the ballpark on our own, and hit some balls around and run the bases. It would be good exercise for everyone at least!
Lastly, Row with her daddy. They are so darn adorable!
