How the garden grows #4

Our garden is growing like crazy, so I thought it was about time to do an update. First, pictures of the beds, and then onto the good stuff.

Garden overview:

Bed #1 Lettuce gone wild:

#2 Broccoli, Cauliflower and Romanesco, and carrots at the back that you cant see:

Bed #3 Broccoli, Cauliflower and Romanesco again, along with one Jalapeno plant:

Bed #4 Onions, and the transplanted brassica's...they are doing okay, but are nowhere near as big as the original plantings are.

Bed #5 two patches of carrots, and 6 bell pepper plants

Bed #6 Watermelon, 2nd planting radishes and honeydew:

Bed #7 Tomatoes:

Bed #8 in front has cherry tomatoes, Bed #9 in back has sugar snap peas and cucumbers:

Bed #10 Corn! We have a second planting coming up in half of the bed, and the first plantings in the back of the bed are nearly thigh high!

Okay, now on to the fun stuff! Things are really starting to grow, and its so exciting to see. Here are some close up pictures from around the garden.

Cherry tomatoes:

Regular tomatoes:

Our peas are tall, and healthy, but no flowers yet...

Our watermelon has a flower!!

Carrots....the first planting I scattered the seed around and the second I did in rows. The rows came up so much better - the block of carrots is very unevenly spaced and ends up wasting a lot of room. I will be using the row method from now on:

We have baby bell peppers on two of the plants, lots of flowers on the rest:

I moved aside some dirt so you can see our onions are forming!

We found a head of broccoli yesterday!

The cucumbers are starting, and there are a TON of them. Especially on the first picture, its the pickling cucumbers:

The cucumber row...they are climbing the netting very well, with only a little help from us:

And finally, the cherry tree. Its going crazy, and we have SO many cherries on it. There are 4 varieties, and its hard to tell what variety three of them are because they are all red cherries. But the Rainiers all the yellow/red ones, so they are easier to spot. My hope is to start my first pick and can session with these on Monday:

And finally, the girls. I know they aren't technically part of the garden, but there hasn't been a picture of them in a long time, so here they are. They are fat and happy, and hopefully getting ready to start earning their keep!

Its really exciting to see everything growing, I know that in another month we are going to be eyeball deep in fresh yummy produce, and very busy preserving it all. I cant wait!
