In honor of our current heat wave

A nice little video about sunscreen!

I have a love/hate relationship with sunscreen, as I am pretty firmly convinced that its the chemicals they put in traditional sunscreen that are causing an increase in skin cancer...and not the actual sun. I do waver a bit when it comes to bad sunburns though. I don't want the kids to get so badly burned that their skin hurts, or they peel, or cause lasting damage to their skin cells. So for days when its supposed to be extra hot and sunny, I cave and apply sunscreen to the kids. I use Blue Lizard on them (and me too) and I feel like its a safe choice because its chemical free, fragrance free and Zinc Oxide based so it blocks UVA and UVB rays. I found it last year at Fred Meyer, but its not there this year so I have to either find a new source or find a new sunscreen. This database helps with that, its the Environment Working Groups 2009 sunscreen guide. I noticed that Blue Lizard is a 3 on their list....which is much better than many sunscreens, but not as good as it could be. So....what does your sunscreen rate?
