Too hot to type

We came back from our trip on Monday just in time for the biggest heat wave of the year. Yesterday it was 102 in Hillsboro, with temps expected to rise as high as 107 in some places this week. If you have ever been to our part of Oregon, you know that means unbearably hot, sticky, smothering heat. I don't do well in the heat, I get cranky and grouchy and all around unhappy. Luckily, while we were in Spokane, Matthew had the foresight to buy an window air conditioning unit. We installed it in the kitchen window last night (we have no windows that open in our front room) and its doing a fair job of keeping the space tolerably cool. Outside though is another story! I have been watering down the shaded areas of the ground every few hours for the chickens, and taking them bowl after bowl of ice water. They are still miserable, and I am worried about losing one of them in this heat. Too bad they wont bath in water, I would love to set up a kiddie pool for them to splash in!!

Even though its cooler in the house, its still too hot to sit in front of the computer long enough to put together posts about our trip. We are watching a friends kids for the next two days while she works, and then the heat is supposed to let up this weekend, so hopefully I will get something up soon. Between Kami and I we took close to 1,500 pictures last week, so its a lot to sort through!! Be back soon!
