Today was Killian's first day of school, he started 3rd grade this year! I cant believe how big he is getting, seems like just yesterday he was starting Kindergarten. Its so bittersweet...I am happy that he will get a chance to play with kids his age, and learn lots of cool new things. But the selfish part of me wants to keep him home with me all the time, and I am really sad that he isn't going to be home all day anymore. Rowan misses him too - she was playing at her kitchen today saying "I wish Killy was here, I wish Killy was here".
To celebrate Killian's first day of school, Rowan and I decided to make some chocolate chip cookies to surprise him with! Rowan was really excited, because two of her favorite things are chocolate and baking, so she was ready to get started right away. Since we didn't need to eat all 5 dozen chocolate chip cookies, we decided to share the love and celebration with our friends. Rowan decorated a couple brown bags to hold the cookies in with stickers and drawings of her friends, and we dropped them off at their houses. It was a fun way to pass the time until Killian got home.
So how did Killys first day go?! When we picked him up from school he said it was "AWESOME"!! I was so thrilled! He said he made a few friends, and played with lots of kids at recess. At dinner he told me he couldn't wait for tomorrow, and when I asked why, he said so he could go back to school!! Hopefully that good feeling continues for the whole school year :)
