Today we took the kids to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus. We have gone every year since Rowan was born. That first year I spent half the circus in the lobby with Row because she didn't have the attention span to sit through the whole show, but she has been more and more interested each year. This year she (and Killian) loved it!
We got there a little early to go to watch the pre-show and this lady was really fun to watch. I cant imagine the upper body strength it takes to do something like this!

There are always lots of animals to see at the circus, and its so amazing to me how well trained they all are! They must put so much effort and time into these acts, especially the ones with animals that are "wild". They had Zebras:

And of course they had Elephants! I remember going to the zoo one year with my parents when I was about Killian's age, maybe a few years younger. I don't know if they paid for it, or we got picked for it, but my brother and I got to go up and ride an elephant around the arena. I don't think you would ever see that nowadays because of liability, but it was a very cool experience for us! These elephants were just beautiful, and did all sorts of tricks.
They laid down:

They sat up:

This one held the trainer in her mouth and twirled around. Killian kept saying how that elephant must have been thinking that the human tasted gross!

Then they all stood up:

Then the Tigers - these are one of my favorites! They are so beautiful, and they had three white tigers that were even more gorgeous. I didn't like how the trainer kept poking them with his stick, but I guess that kind of goes along with being the only human in a cage full of tigers.

He got them all to line up and then stand up....I love those furry little tiger bellies!

We also saw lots of acts of the human variety! My camera doesn't do movement very well, but I did manage to get a couple pictures. These are the trapeze artists, they were literally right in front of us so we had a great view of the act.

These ladies were a big hit with the kids, they shot them out of the cannons all the way to the other side of the arena!! It was pretty neat to watch!

Its just not the circus if you don't spend $10 on a bag of cotton candy which your kids will inhale in less that a minute. It sure tasted good though! We had a great time, and cant wait to see what they come up with to entertain us next year!
