Me Bags

Killian had his first homework assignment this week, and it was to make a "Me bag". Basically it was a brown paper bag that he had to decorate, then fill up with 5 things that were important to him, and make a presentation to the class telling them why he chose the things he did. Rowan was watching him make it, and announced that she also had homework, and surprisingly enough it was also to do a "me bag"! They both had a great time decorating their bags, and giving presentations to Matthew and I:

Killian put in a video game, a rock from his rock collection, a picture of all of us, a lego car, and one of his favorite books. Rowan put 3 hotwheels, one wooden train figure and a small camera toy in her bag:

It was a lot of fun, and a good break from the regular homework we have been doing. Last week I was shocked when they sent home the results of a math quiz and I realized how much Killian had forgotten over the summer. So even though he hasn't had any real homework yet, every night we are doing 3-4 front and back pages from second and third grade workbooks that we have laying around. Rowan has been doing homework too, she does 5-6 pages from preschool workbooks, and I think its the highlight of her day. She absorbs things so fast and I am excited at how much she loves to learn already! The plan is to keep up the extra pages for Killian for the school year (how many depends on what his homework from school looks like) and to keep Rowan learning too. I am so lucky to have the time at home with them to help them learn and grow!
