Disney on Ice!

Last night we took the kids to Disney on Ice at the Rose Quarter in Portland. We went with Jessica, Wade and their kids, along with Mike, Kami and Sophia. We had seats with Jessica and Wade, while Mike, Kami and Sophia had seats somewhere else in the arena. The kids were really excited about sitting together, and Killian made sure that Cole was sitting next to him. I have seen them grow a lot closer in the last couple months, even though there is a 4.5 year age gap between them. Maybe its because Cole is so close in age to Rowan, or maybe its because he is another boy, but lately Killian has been treating him like a little brother. I think its so sweet how Killian looks out for him, and has taken him under his wing. They are all such great friends, its wonderful to see them grow up together.

My camera behaved itself for once, so I actually got some decent pictures. The first act was CARS, and this was probably the favorite for the boys:

Sadly, this portion of the show was only about 15 minutes, which was kind of a disappointment because it was really cute. I guess there isn't that much you can do to act out that story, especially on a small ice rink!

Next up was The Little Mermaid, which was probably my favorite. The costumes for this whole show were all beautiful, but the Little Mermaid ones were especially pretty. They had people with long sheets of shimmery blue fabric that they held flowing along behind them like waves, and a bunch of pretty fish and seahorse costumes. There was also this awesome seahorse that two people handled. This is actually the only picture of this act this act that I got!

Next up was the Lion King! They hit most of the highlights of the story, and it was well done too. I felt bad for the guy playing Scar - he fell 2 or 3 times during his performance! The person playing Pumba had a hard job also- he had 4 feet to worry about!

After the Lion King it was intermission, and at shows like this that means $$CA-CHING$$! We actually got off pretty light because the kids picked cotton candy that came with either a Lighting McQueen hat or a flower hat. Rowan and Killian both chose the CARS hats, Taylor got a flower hat, and Cole picked a cute cup with a snow cone inside. The kids proceeded to fuel up on sugar, and we got ready for the second half - Tinkerbell!

This act was very long, and was a little boring for the grown ups. The kids seemed to like it a lot though, and that's what mattered. The set for this one was also very pretty, here is Pixie Hollow:

Tinkerbell:

And the head fairy:

The kids got a little restless towards the end, but still did a great job. Killian ended up giving Cole his CARS hat - here are Rowan and Cole rocking them:

The show lasted for 2 hours, and the kids had such a wonderful time. I love taking them to things like this, its always such a neat experience, one that I hope they will remember for a long time. It was made even sweeter by having great friends and family to share it with!
