What a difference!

I have been painting like crazy the last few days, trying to get the house in tip top shape for Mike and Kami's upcoming visit. Last week I painted Rowans room, this week it was the hall bathroom and Killian's bedroom.

The bathroom was painted an ugly pink when we bought the house, and apparently the previous owners thought it was such a wonderful color that they painted the ceiling and the door the same as the walls. YUCK! Everything blended together, and it was drab and dreary. We chose a light brown color for the walls, and painted the ceiling and the doors white. It looks so much better, and really crisp and clean. I still have some touch ups to do near the ceiling, but here are before and after pics!

I am really happy with the way it turned out, which is good because I don't want to paint another bathroom for a long time! Its so tedious, with everything that has to be taped off, and working around things like toilets and showers. At least its a fairly small space!

Killian chose a nice blue color for his room, and luckily it only took one coat (as opposed to the three coats it took in Rowans room). I forgot to take a before picture, so the only one I have is from when we moved in.

He really likes the color, and I think it makes his room look a lot bigger. Which is good because he has a lot of stuff crammed in there!

The last paint job I had this week was repainting Rowans closet doors. They have always been this ugly grey color, but it wasn't that noticeable when the walls were brown. Once the walls were painted, the closet doors really stuck out, and not in a good way. I painted them white, and now the room looks much more pulled together. Here is a picture with half the doors painted white, the other half the original color:

I think I will try to do the master bedroom next month, along with our master bath (even though I don't want to do another bathroom-it needs it). Then I will be done with painting for a while. I would eventually like to paint the rest of the house a lighter shade than whats on the walls now. But Matthew likes the color, I can live with it, and since it will be a really large undertaking I am not in any hurry to get started. But I finally feel like we are getting somewhere in making our house into our home, and it feels really good : )
