We haven't had very good fall weather this year, much to my disappointment. Its my favorite season, and all year long I look forward to the crisp days, the crunchy leaves, the sunny but slightly chilly mornings. This year we had about a week of that in early October, and then its been mostly rain and cold windy weather since then. We got a break last week in the weather, so Rowan and I, along with Jessica and Cole, headed out for a short nature walk.

On the way to the green space behind our houses, we saw these cute little mushrooms:

And these beautiful little purple berries. I have never seen berries this color before, and I am curious what the plant looks like in the spring and summer.

Once we got to the green space, the kids headed straight to the big oak trees to collect the fallen acorns.

Rowan came prepared with a bucket, and she probably could have stayed out there all day finding acorns. I don't know what she was planning on doing with all of them, but she collected over half a bucket full!

It was a great little afternoon walk, and the kids really enjoyed themselves. Its good to get out while we can, I have a feeling that days like this are going to be in short supply this year!
