I found the neatest website the other day, that focuses entirely on handmade crafting ideas. Its called whipup, and I am totally hooked on it! I have kept the website up on the computer and whenever I have a few minutes I sit down and scroll through the archives. Last I checked I was 267 pages in! I now have about 10 folders in my bookmarks tab devoted entirely to all the neat crafts I am finding. Today I wanted to share some of the great Christmas holiday ornaments and crafts that I have come across.
First up, a spin on an advent calendar. I am going to make this for the kids this year, and string the stockings up along the mantle. In each stocking I will either put in a little treat, or an activity we will do that day. Things along the line of "make cookies", "get a Christmas tree", "do crafts", "watch a Christmas movie" and on and on. I think they are going to be really excited to see what each new day holds!
Martha Stewart Mini Stockings

I have heard some predictions for this winter as far as snow - some weatherman say we wont get any snow at all, and some say we will get more than last year! While its impossible to tell whats really going to happen, if we get cold snowy weather we are totally going to make these wreaths!
Resurrection Fern Ice Wreaths

This is a simple, yet pretty craft to make with the kids. I thought I would take them out on a nature walk to find twigs and then they can help me paint and hang them. Maybe a ribbon would look pretty tied to the top!
A Foothill Home Companion Star

This fabric ball ornament feels so old school to me - its the kind of ornament that I remember on our Christmas tree when I was a little girl. I think these could be really cute with the right fabric.
Whipup Fabric Ornament

Another ornament - I love the idea of this one, and how simple it would be for the kids to help with. The colors in the example are unconventional, but I like how cheery they are!
Bella Dia Miniature Wool Wreaths

Make your own snow globes? Who ever would have thought? These are so cute, and look fairly easy to make. I need to find a place to buy small plastic shapes for the inside of these - the kids will be so excited about this one!
Junior Society Snow Globe

I am planning a cookie decorating and ornament crafting holiday party for our friends and their children in December and have been searching for craft ideas. These ornaments are simple enough for even the youngest children to make, but still appealing to the adult eye. Plus they are inexpensive to make, which is important this time of year!
Reese Dixon Paper Ornaments

This last one shows you 5 ways to decorate a plain glass ornament. The one below is my favorite, but the other ideas they show are cute too. I also saw the same idea in a magazine the other day, but they put a couple cranberries and sprigs of pine tree in. Its not something that will last year to year, but it sure looked cute!
