I finally pulled out the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day book that I got for Christmas and I cant believe I waited so long! This bread is so delicious, and it could not be simpler to make. The first dough I made was the master recipe boule dough, it is made with white flour. I baked two different shapes loaves, one in a pan and one free form. They tasted the same of course, but I preferred the free form shape, partly because of its rustic appearance:

(A loaf of the master recipe with a bucket of the whole wheat dough rising behind it)
The next batch I tried was a whole wheat sandwich bread recipe, and I was really disappointed in it. It tasted good but the loaf was so tiny! I guess when I think of a sandwich bread, I envision something that rises high enough to make a decent sandwich with. This loaf was at most two inches tall! So my search continues for a good whole wheat bread that can be used for sandwiches. There are a whole bunch of great recipes in this book to still try - granola bread, pita breads, and specialty breads. I saw that they also have a new book "Healthy Breads in 5 minutes a Day" which promises healthier ingredients like whole wheat, fruits and vegetables. Veggies in bread? I have to try that! I am on the waiting list to get the book from the library, and I am looking forward to baking (and eating) more of this yummy bread!
