Easter day

Killian had asked us last night what time he could wake us up in the morning. Normally he will sleep till 9 or 10 on the weekends, but has a sneaky habit of waking up quite early on holiday mornings. He was up at 6am on Christmas!! We told him 8am, and sure enough he burst into our room at 8 on the dot. They were very anxious to see what the Easter bunny brought them:

Rowan got two packs of dinosaur figures, she is really into them lately so she was overjoyed to find them next to her basket:

Killian got the remote control helicopter that he was hoping for:

Rowan was happier about the fruit leathers in her basket than she was about any of the candy. A couple years ago our Easter bunny got on a healthier living kick, and now brings the kids natural and organic treats (things like granola bars and fruit leathers) to balance out the candy.

After finding all the eggs that the bunny hid around the living room, and digging through their baskets they opened up their toys. Rowan picked out her T-Rex and Pteranodon dino's and started making up stories for them right away. She has such a great imagination!

Killian's helicopter is awesome! After a few flights (it only flies for 5 minutes before needing a 20 minute charge) he really got the hang of it, and can now hover it all around the room:

Later in the day Matthews sisters and their families came over to celebrate and have dinner with us. We did another egg hunt for the cousins, the kids nearly bowled Matthew over in their excitement to get to the eggs:

Its always really fun for all the cousins to get together, they always have such a great time. We had lots of time to talk while the food cooked, and it was fun getting caught up on whats happening in every one's lives. We all live fairly close together, but don't manage to get together often enough. Hopefully we can see everyone more often this summer, and have some family BBQ's and get togethers!

On a side note, we got our ham from New Seasons this year and I was blown away by the taste of it. Deliciously flavored with a beautiful texture, and best of all, no nitrates/nitrites or other yucky chemicals in the meat. Hurray for naturally raised pork! You can really taste the difference.

We had a great weekend celebrating Easter, and enjoyed the time we were able to spend with our family and friends. The kids are already looking forward to next years Easter egg hunts....the haul of candy that they got will probably last them until then anyways!
