Imagination overload

One of the coolest things about watching kids play is seeing them engage their imaginations. The kids will often put on plays for me with their friend Taylor, and I am always amazed at their creativity. They are so good at taking what looks like nothing, and turning it into something that will entertain them and allow them to be creative for hours.

Take our new oven. When it was delivered, I asked that they leave us the box because I knew what potential it held. The kids loved it! We cut a door and windows out, and then they each took a side to decorate:

About 30 minutes had passed, and when I went to check on them I discovered that the box had been turned into a home! Killian, Rowan and Taylor were inside reading together, and had brought in blankets and drawn pictures on the inside:

As I type this, they are sitting in the living room with the box, sending each other pictures through the mail slot and planning a trip to Las Vegas. The trip could be because one of the letters they got was from the FBI. Hopefully they aren't running from the law!! Kids are so funny!

Last weekend we made some "Oobleck". Its basically a runny weird goo made from cornstarch and water, and optional food dye. I first learned about making this at OMSI, and its always a fun rainy day experiment to bring out:

Yesterday Rowan wanted to play Vet, and she brought out a big pile of stuffed animals that were sick and in desperate need of medical attention. She said she would be the doctor, and I was going to be her assistant. We had just seen a few of the patients, when Dr. Killian joined our practice, bringing along his own sick patients. Problems ranged from broken tails, to gassy tummies (lots of farts with that one), and one old mouse who had lost his hearing and kept yelling "What did you say" to the doctor:

Its a wild ride keeping up with these kids and all their adventures and imaginings, but I sure wouldn't have it any other way!
