Activity in the nest

I know I keep saying it, but its really amazing how fast our baby bunnies are growing! They opened their eyes last week, and now they have started holding their ears up and staying awake and alert for longer periods of time. They have also been really moving and burrowing around the nest, so much that its not really a nest anymore!

Mama Lulu ignores them as much as she can, although I have spotted her nursing them a few times early in the morning. Its not that she is bad mother, but rabbit mama's just don't spend a lot of time with their babies. In the wild, the babies would be left alone in the nest all day while the mom would be out foraging. So Lulu is just doing what comes naturally to her - trying to get as far away from those little ones as possible!

The babies are getting adventurous, I don't think it will be long before they figure out they can get out of the nesting area and catch up to their mama:

Three little babies all snuggled down for a rest:

We bring the babies inside usually twice a day to handle and play with them. Harlow wandered over the other day and got the surprise of her life! She had no idea what to do about these little fluff balls, and upon sniffing them she jumped away and stared suspiciously in their direction. I think she is more scared of them than they are of her!
