Chop, chop....timber!

When Rowan and I left the house to go pick up Killian from school, we drove by a surprising sight. Do you see what we saw?

We rushed home from school, grabbed the camera and walked over to the end of the block. Just in time to see this:

We hung out on the corner, watching as limb by limb fell from this huge tree:

Until there was nothing left but the trunk of a formerly magnificent tree.

I don't know the owners reason for taking down this tree, and they very well could have had a great one, but it was still a bit sad to watch it come down. I did get a brilliant idea watching them haul away the ground up mulch. I ran over and asked them what they do with it, and the guy offered it for free! I wanted to wait to talk to Matthew and got a business card instead, but I think I may have found the answer to my vexing weeds-growing-in-the-garden-path problem. Free mulch! Feeling pretty clever, the kids and I watched until the tree had been cut down almost to the roof line, and then we headed home. You just never know what the day will bring you!
