Pantry clean up

I bought a bunch of bulk granola making ingredients during my weekly grocery shopping trip yesterday and when I got home, I realized that I had no space to put them in! My pantry was in desperate need of a thorough cleaning! I dragged everything out and began the organizing process:

Harlow supervised while I sorted out what I had, tossed the expired items (not much luckily) and began getting jars filled and labeled:

I realized that I had more of some things than I thought, like the 1 gallon of white rice, on top of the 1/2 gallon of basmati and 1/2 gallon of brown rice. Plus the gallon and a half of rolled oats! I tend to just keep buying certain things in bulk, not realizing that I already have some at home. So this pantry clean out will hopefully help me be more efficient. I love the way the jars look all laid out:

And back in the pantry, neat and organized!

And just for fun, the piddly remains of all my hard work canning last year:

This cupboard used to be full! We used our last jar of strawberry jam last week, and it was so difficult to find a good quality, non high-fructose-corn-syrup containing jam that was also affordable that I am counting down the days until strawberry season returns. Not only for jam - we haven't eaten fresh strawberries since last July....I think there will be plenty of eating out of hand as well :) Now that my cupboard is clean and everything is in sight its time to get baking!
