Today Killian is officially done with 3rd grade! He had another great year, made some good friends and excelled in school - especially in reading and language. We are so proud of him for always doing his best and working hard in school. He is growing up so fast, I cant believe that this year he will be 10, and in 4th grade. I wish sometimes that we could rewind back to when he was just a little guy, its hard seeing him getting older and being more independent. Its exciting at the same time though, getting to see what kind of person he is going to be!
We threw a little ice cream social at our house today to celebrate the end of another school year and the beginning of summer. We didn't really have summer weather, but at least it didn't rain so I really cant complain. The kids were much more interested in the ice cream and the mounds of gummy worms, sprinkles and hot fudge toppings anyways.
As always, our kitchen island made a perfect serving line - the kids lined up and chose their ice cream flavor (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry - keeping it classic!) and then dove into the toppings.

I was pretty surprised at how light handed they were, nobody went totally crazy filling up on the sugary treats, although Killian did have a pretty healthy population of gummy worms:

Rowan corralled a few gummy sharks and Swedish fish in to her bowl:

We took our drippy treats outside and the kids played with LuLu in between bites of ice cream. Stephanie, Jessica, Shirley and I got a lot of time to chat and catch up while the kids entertained themselves. The kids mostly climbed up, slide down, and swung on the play structure. At one point we had 12 kids back there (a few neighbor kids joined us) and the poor think was really creaking and rocking. I don't know that its going to last that much longer with all the use and abuse it gets, but it made it through today so that's all that matters!

Rowan and Killian were so excited to play with Stephanies girls, they always have so much fun together. How could they not, look how sweet these two are!

The kids all had such a wonderful time playing together. Even with so many of them trying to play in such a small area, they all got along wonderfully. Killian was thrilled to have his friend Joey be able to join us, and to have another kid his age to play with. I think sometimes he gets a little tired of having a bunch of younger kids around, so any time he can spend with bigger kids he really looks forward too. Hopefully soon we can get some summer weather around here, and have friends over for fun afternoons like this all the time!
