After four days of fabulous family fun, the first day of school has arrived! For the first time in his school 'career', Killian will be attending the same school as the previous year. He still wont know a lot of kids in his class, because he was in a 3/4 split last year and most of the kids he played with have moved on to 5th grade. He felt like he didn't have any really good buddies last year, so I am hoping that he can form some new friendships this year. He has been excited about going back to school, and we are all ready to get back into a routine.
We had been waking up early in preparation for school for a few weeks, so the morning went really smoothly. I got both kids dressed and fed a hot breakfast, Killians lunch packed and his backpack ready and out the door with 25 minutes to spare. Killian, on his way to the first day of 4th grade:

After we got Killian settled in at school, Rowan and I headed home. We had a lot of errands to run that day, and stopped by a friends house so we managed to stay busy, but it was really weird to not have Killy with us. Rowan kept asking when it would be time to pick him up, because she missed him. I thought that was so sweet of her!
Finally it was time to go get him, and as Rowan and I waited outside for him it started to sprinkle. By the time we left the school it was full fledged rain, and by the time we got home we had downpour on our hands!

The kids asked if they could go sit on the porch and watch it (they love a good storm) but soon decided it would be more fun to play in it:

They splished and splashed and enjoyed themselves immensely. When the rain let up, Rowan decided she was going to "take a shower" under the gutter...guess its time to get them cleaned out for fall!

They played outside for about 20 minutes before sloshing inside to take hot showers and have a snack. While they were eating their snack, we looked out the kitchen window and noticed that we were not the only ones trying to get out of the rain:

We had a really nice afternoon, and I was happy to have Killian back home with us. I enjoy the routine of the school year, and having one on one time with Rowan, but I really miss Killian when he is gone. It feels like he is growing up so fast, and I cant believe he is in 4th grade already. I kind of don't want him to be growing up, but at the same time its so cool to see the person he is becoming as he matures. I don't know how I am going to handle it when both of them go to school next year! I better start stocking up on tissues now!
