Furry tails

Another update about our cats? Well, its only the second one since we got our new kitten, so you cant call me a crazy cat lady quite yet! Porter is growing up fast, she is almost 5 months and is such a mischievous kitten! She keeps us all on our toes, including Harlow. Which means sometimes Harlow has to remind her who is the boss around this house:

For the most part though, they get along really well and are starting to hang out with each other a lot more. It helps that they have bonded over their shared love of watching birds and squirrels out the front door:

Porter seems to be bringing out the kitten in Harlow too, which is really nice to see. Even when she was younger (she is only a year old now) Harlow has always been very reserved and sort of stuck up. She is affectionate and lovable, but she just has never been very playful. But lately she is acting pretty silly, and it must be due to Porter's kitten antics rubbing off on her. One of her favorite things to do is play hide and seek...but she doesn't seem to realize how big she is:

And she is less than thrilled to have her hiding spot discovered:

She was trying to hide one night and got herself jammed between the couch and the window..she was not very happy to discover that she couldn't get out by herself!

Porter of course is full of silly antics. One of them is wrestling with this little stuffed kitten that Rowan has. Porter latched onto it almost as soon as we brought her home, maybe it reminds her of her sisters and brothers. She will tear around the house with it in her mouth, and then lay down and have a good wrestle:

Its so cute to watch, but Rowan doesn't appreciate it very much - that kitten is one of her favorite stuffed animals! Rowan is fast to forgive though, she loves Porter so much.

And despite all the times Rowan has squished and squeezed her, Porter loves Rowan right back and even chooses to cuddle with her sometimes (instead of Rowan forcing her to):

So sweet! Despite the bumpy start, I am really happy that we decided to add Porter to our family. She is the perfect fit, and its good for Harlow to have a companion. That will probably be especially important when we add a puppy to the mix next year. Oh boy, I cant wait to see how that all plays out!
