2010 Holiday Party

Tonight Matthew and I left the kids home with Uncle Mike while we headed downtown for his company's holiday party. I was trying to get snack stuff set up for the kids and since they wanted popcorn I left the popcorn popper and a bowl on the counter. When I came back into the kitchen, I found that a certain someone thought that nice empty bowl would be a great place for a little nap. Silly kitten!

Matthew and I, ready for a night on the town:

We met up with our friends Nick and Sarah (who both work for the same company) and partied the night away. We had such a great time, it was fun for me to see people I haven't seen in a long time (I worked there for 4 years before I got pregnant with Rowan) and to meet some of the people that Matthew works with that I haven't met before. His work throws a great party, there was amazing food, lots of fun activities to do and we enjoyed it all in the company of our wonderful friends.

They had a road trip theme this year, so on each of the tables they had little cardboard cars filled with candy as centerpieces. As the night wore on, all the candy was eaten and the cars were left all alone, destine for a trash bag at the end of the night. I knew two small people who would give those cars a much better life, so we brought 2 home for each of the kids. When they woke up the next morning they were thrilled with their new toys, and spent a good portion of the day playing with them:

I enjoy the time that Matthew and I get to spend together immensely, and I am so glad that we have slowly been making that time more of a priority this year. Now that we have a wonderful sitter who the kids adore (my friends daughter Charlotte) AND my brother living with us, I feel really comfortable about leaving the kids at home so we can go to events like this. The kids look forward to it too, its always so exciting for them to have a sitter for the night. With everyone happy, its a win-win situation!
