Puppy play date

We are trying to expose Ruger to as many new people and experiences as we can while he is young so that he becomes a confident well manner boy as he grows up. I take him on "community outings" everyday so he can see new things and meet lots of people who like to ooh and ahh over his adorable floppy ears and super sized paws. So far we have gone to Target, Home Depot, Lowe's, a couple of pet stores, Farmington Gardens and Coastal Farm and Ranch. Target is the only one that dogs aren't technically allowed in, but he rides in the cart so nobody really seems to mind. I cant take him everywhere I want yet, because he isn't fully protected against Parvo and I am not willing to take any chances of him contracting it. So parks, neighborhood walks and waiting for Killian in front of the school are out for another 2 weeks. We still stay busy though, and he is not only getting the the social experience of meeting new people but as an added bonus he is becoming a really excellent car traveler. The first few times in the car he whined and completely freaked out, trying to climb into the front seat with me. Now he gets in and plops down between the kids seats and promptly falls asleep. He is such a good boy!

He hasn't gotten to meet any other dogs yet, and since his training class and puppy kindergarten don't start for a few more weeks my sweet friend Sarah offered to bring her cute little pug Nevaeh over for a puppy play date. Nevaeh is the most hilarious dog ever - being a pug she has a cute little snorty grunting sound that she makes which makes it impossible to not fall head over heels for her right away. It was hard to get her to stand still long enough to take a picture, but I managed to get a quick beauty shot of her:

Ruger really wasn't sure what to make of her at first, and he kind of hung back and watched her tear around the kitchen checking the place out. After a while he warmed up and started playing with her and seemed to really like having someone to run amok with. A mid action shot - playing puppies are hard to get a good picture of!

Finally, a pause in the action and a better shot of the cute couple:

It was hard to tell who had more fun, the dogs or the people! Big thanks to Sarah, Nick and Hailey for coming over and helping us to socialize our little guy, it was a great time all around!
