An expression of love

A few weeks ago we went to a friends birthday party, and one of the presents we gave the little girl was a do it yourself garden stone. Rowan spent a long time holding the package before I wrapped it, and talking about how she what decorations she would put where if she were the one making it. She was starting to get pretty bummed out about the idea of having to give it away, when I remembered that Rowan herself had gotten a very similar stone for her birthday last year...but we had never gotten around to making it! She was thrilled when I reminded her and when we dug the box out of its hiding place in the garage, she immediately got to work deciding on her decorations. I was working on something else, so the kids and Matthew mixed and poured the concrete and put together the design that Rowan had decided on. I love that this is what she chose (the middle row is hard to make out, but it says *AND*):

She sure loves her big brother an awful lot!! She decided to put it out in the garden in front, so that we could see it every time we walked up to the front door. It definitely brightens up the space, and reminds me every day what a wonderful relationship these two have with each other. I hope that it will always be like this for them!
