To the beach!

We have been wanting to take Ruger to the beach since we got him, and today we finally made it over there. Everyone had so much fun! The kids loved running around and making sandcastles, the dog loved splashing in the water a lot, but he was really crazy for digging in the sand, and Matthew and I had a great time sitting back and enjoying the antics of our 3 little ones.

Ruger was a little unsure of the ocean water at first:

But as soon as I rolled up my pant legs and waded in, he was happy to follow:

Once the novelty of the water wore off (it was SO cold!) we headed back up the beach, where Ruger proceeded to have a wild spell and run around in circles like a crazy puppy:

Its so cute to see him acting like that, because he has grown and matured so much that when I look at him now, I don't often see that adorable puppy side. Just a big, handsome boy:

And does that big boy ever love to dig! I swear it's his absolutely favorite pastime, and since he is expressly forbidden to engage in digging at home (though he often sneaks a hole or two when we aren't looking) the beach was like a giant plot of land just waiting for him to come along and excavate it. He dug with the kids:

And he dug on his own:

And then he took a break to get the sand out of his mouth and nose:

Before he started digging again. I am sure this was like doggy heaven to him, and it was pretty fun to watch him having such a great time.

Wait...did you know the kids were with us too!? They have been to the beach a bazillion times before, and since this was Rugger's first time I took way more pictures of him. But the kids were there, and they had a great time too. Rowan loves the beach, just like her daddy, and she is always so excited to get her toes in the water:

Killian loves to dig, and build, and construct so he spends a lot of his beach time discovering little sticks and shells, and finding ways to put them together to make a grand masterpiece. He also spent a lot of this trip digging with the dog, and trying to move large pieces of driftwood. And of course, one of the only pictures I got of him was with the dog:

And here are a few more puppy pictures, just for good measure!

And me and Roogy:

Next time I will try to tear my camera away from the little guy, and take some pictures of the rest of us enjoying our day at the beach!
