A celebration of love (and hooping!)

We have been looking forward to this weekend for so long now...its the day of our friend Lacye's wedding! The kids were really excited because they have never been to a wedding before, and knowing Lacye, we knew that this one was going to be extra fun!

The wedding site was a few hours away, so Lacye rented out a nearby campground for everyone to stay at instead of having to drive all the way back to Portland after the reception. We got there early and set up camp, and then headed over to the wedding site. It was in Stevenson, Washington so we had to cross the Bridge of the Gods to get there, which was super exciting for Killian because he had just learned about it in school and now he was getting to see it in real life. Its sort of hard to take pictures while driving, so these were the best I got:

Lacye is probably one of the most creative, artistic people I know, and she really went all out for the wedding. She made a ton of cute little favors by hand for everyone:

And had a beautiful little table arranged by the guest book:

She must have a lot of talented friends too, because one of them made a stamp with her and her soon to be husbands picture on it. How cool is that??

It was a totally casual wedding, and it was nice to be comfortable cause it was a HOT day and we were outside under the sun for most of it:

And saying "Yes to THAT!":

Me! Thanks to Rowan's great picture taking skills:

The beautiful bride:

Some people you just know are meant to be together. Seeing how in love these two are and how happy they are together, its easy to see that they have found their soul mate:

This is probably my favorite picture from all that I took. The look on Rowans face is so precious!

We had the best dinner ever at the reception - salmon that Lacye's family had caught on their own up in Alaska, and shipped down for the wedding. It was SO good. After we filled our bellies with delicious food and lots of beer, the party really began! Lacye is a professional hula hooper, and has lots of hooping friends so there were plenty of hula hoops laying around just waiting to be danced in:

I have to say, there is something really awesome about a bride hooping in her wedding dress. Lacye is just that cool! And did I mention beautiful as well?

The kids were totally in awe of her, and kept trying to hang out with her every time she came near. She was super sweet, and made sure to spend time with each of them.

She found a fellow hooper in Killian, who wowed everyone with his amazing skills:

They were in good company:

Rowan got some hooping time in too:

But Killian really stole the show, especially when they brought out the LED hoops:

(Shoot. Looks like the video is sideways, and I don't know how to fix it. Just turn your head, and try not to get dizzy!)

I definitely need to get that boy his own hula hoop! We stayed till late in the night, dancing, hooping, and having a fantastic time. Will we ever get to go to another wedding as amazing and perfect as this one? Doubtful. It was an beautiful celebration of two people very much in love, starting their life together, surrounded by friends, family and all the things that make them happy. We say YES to that!
