To the Zoo!

The kids and I met up with one of my best friends and her daughters at the zoo today. Its the first time that we have been this year (even though we have a membership...bad us!) and the kids were excited to check everything out:

Rowan and Angie's oldest daughter Catie are like two little peas in a pod, and set off first thing to explore together:

We walked around the new monkey exhibit, and Rowan measured up against the Orangutans:

When we were done monkeying around (haha) we wandered over to the lion area. Before you get to see the cats, you pass a bunch of statues of a lion pride, which of course we had to stop at and take a bazillion pictures in different poses! Here are just a few...

I have NO idea what look Killian was going for here, but this picture totally cracks me up!

HELP! I am being eaten by a lion!! And strangely, seeming quite happy about it:

When the kids tired of the fake lions, we headed off to find the real things:

The lions are new to the zoo as of last year, and its still a big thrill to get to see them. We made one more stop in the Predators of the Serengeti area, so the kids could jump and climb all over this safari jeep:

Then it was off for a real ride on the Zoo train! Its quite a nice relaxing ride in the summer, because the train not only goes through the zoo, but it also travels through Forest Park and stops at the rose gardens. Its a pretty ride, and the kids were thrilled to be going on it. It was a really wonderful day, and we all had a great time. We love our zoo!
