The big day is finally here, and all at once it seems much too soon. Rowan starts Kindergarten today! I am having a hard time believing that she is really big enough to be doing this - it seems like it was just yesterday that she was this little:

The years are passing much too quickly, and my little baby is growing up too fast. It makes me sad, but at the same time I am happy that she is moving into this next stage of her life. She has been so excited about going to school for so long now that its hard for me to be upset when she is so thrilled to be there. I think she is going to love kindergarten, and I cant wait to watch her grow and learn!
Killian (a 5th grader this year!) posing with his little sister before the go in:

A very fuzzy picture of Rowan in her classroom (but look how excited she is!):

She is in a Spanish immersion program this year, which we opted to have her in after learning how great the program and how much easier it is for kids to learn a second language when they are young. She will spend half the day in her Spanish class, and half the day in English class, and begin learning the basics of kindergarten in both languages. I think she is really going to enjoy the challenge, and will probably be able to teach us some Spanish too.
I snapped another quick picture of her before I left:

I went home to an empty house, the first time that has happened in 5.5 years, and it was eerily quiet. What did I do with my new found freedom? I cleaned the house; laundry, dishes, vacuuming...anything to keep my eyes off the clock. Finally it was time to go pick her up (she is in half days) and when I saw her bouncing out of the building with a huge smile on her face, I felt so much better. She loved her first day, and was so excited to share all that she had learned. My heart is aching a little bit knowing that she is growing up, but no matter how big she gets, she will always be my little baby ♥
