Kindergarten Parade

Rowan got to go back to school today for a special event, the annual Kindergarten parade! Schools don't have Halloween parties anymore, but someone must have remembered how fun it was for the kids to get a chance to dress up with their friends, and thought up a clever way around the anti-Halloween celebrating rules. On October 31st every year, the kindergartners get to dress up as community helpers and parade around the entire school, stopping in each classroom along the way to show off in front of the bigger kids.

Rowan didn't want to go at first, until Killian told her he had seen the kindergartners parade the previous two years and how much fun the kids looked like they were having. With big brothers encouragement, she finally decided that she wanted to be a part of the event. She is in half days (some of the kindergartners need more help, so they offer full days classes for them) so we had lunch at home and ran a couple errands before heading back to school for the parade. Rowan was so excited when we got there, she wanted to show off her costume to all her friends. She wanted to go as a Zoo Veterinarian, and she brought along her little stuffed lioness:

When all the kids were ready, they headed out to start the parade:

Rowan had a great time, and was especially excited to get to visit her big brothers classroom:

She even got a high five from one of Killian's friends, which is pretty awesome when you are in kindergarten! It was really cute seeing all the kids in their helper outfits, and they all seemed to have a great time!
